Kenyan Mother Allegedly Stabs Five Children, Killing Two, After Husband Takes Second Wife

A tragic family incident in Uganda has left two children dead and three others receiving medical treatment after a 43-year-old Kenyan woman allegedly attacked her five daughters during a domestic dispute.

The incident occurred in Kalungu Bunga, Ggaba, in Kampala's Makindye Division, on Thursday, August 20, 2026. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack.

Two Children Die After Attack

The woman, identified in reports as Dorothy Namayo, allegedly attacked all five of her daughters with a knife.

Fourteen-year-old Khadija Daizy was reportedly found dead in her bedroom, while seven-year-old Hawa Dalena later succumbed to her injuries at Nsambya Hospital. The three surviving children, aged 13, 8 and 5, were taken to hospital for treatment.

Namayo herself was also injured and was reportedly taken to Mulago National Referral Hospital, where she remains under police guard.

Husband's Alleged Second Marriage

According to accounts attributed to the family's housemaid and local authorities, the tragedy followed months of tension between Namayo and her husband, Ederisa Troy, a Malian national.

The housemaid reportedly told investigators that problems in the household intensified after Troy allegedly took a second wife. She said the couple had been involved in frequent arguments since then.

Reports further allege that disagreements were connected to the husband's desire for sons, as the couple had daughters. However, these details remain part of the accounts being investigated and should not be treated as established facts.

Fire Also Reportedly Set at the Home

The incident reportedly involved more than the attack on the children. Investigators also found evidence that household property had been set on fire.

A Toyota Hiace vehicle parked at the residence was reportedly burnt, while police recovered a container believed to have contained petrol.

The disturbing incident has raised questions about the months of domestic conflict reportedly experienced by the family and whether earlier intervention could have prevented the tragedy.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths and injuries. The allegations against Namayo have not been determined by a court.
